Ashland State Park Drowning Victim
A 46-year-old man died at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham after an apparent canoe accident and medical emergency at Ashland State Park on July 15, 2026. Bystanders pulled him from the water and began CPR, but authorities have withheld his identity pending ongoing investigations by local and state police.

The tragedy occurred on the afternoon of July 15 when the man was on a canoe on the lake, according to the Ashland Police Department. After the canoe overturned, bystanders pulled him to the shore and immediately started CPR. Because the area was heavily wooded, firefighters from both the Ashland and Hopkinton departments had to launch a boat to reach the shoreline and transport him across the water to the Spring Street boat launch.

Rescuers continued administering CPR throughout the water transport and ambulance ride to the hospital, where the man was unfortunately pronounced deceased. The official cause of death is pending investigation by state and local authorities.
